Thomas Carney is the host of the "Pursuit of Calling" podcast and a web and mobile application developer who has faced significant challenges due to a diagnosis of muscular dystonia. Through his experiences, he is dedicated to equipping others with the tools and mindsets needed to discover and pursue their God-given callings.

Hi! I’m Thomas Carney, the host of the ‘Pursuit of Calling’ podcast. Here’s a little bit about me and my story of perseverance and faith. I was born in Greensburg, PA, and spent much of my childhood in Ligonier, PA, where I attended school from my early years through high school. Later, I pursued a degree in Computer Science at La Roche College (now University), graduating with a bachelor’s degree. Since October 2017, I’ve been professionally developing web and mobile applications.

My life was relatively normal until early 2022, when I began experiencing severe pain in my hands and arms. Eventually, I was diagnosed with muscular dystonia. As of today, August 31, 2024, this condition has spread to most of my muscles, limiting much of what I can physically do. But it hasn’t stopped me from, well… pursuing my calling.

I believe I’ve been called to equip people with the tools, strategies, mindsets, and habits needed to discover and pursue their God-given callings. My health condition, coupled with my deep interest in personal development, growth, and faith, uniquely qualifies me to fulfill this mission. The growth I’ve experienced as a result of my circumstances can only be described as miraculous.

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” - Romans 5:3-4 NIV
